As I begin this I first want to
present a sort of double dose as I try to bring up to date all God has done and
how faithful He has been and is. Then I
will also present yesterday’s dose as well.
This is my attempt to show how
amidst the pain and loss of all that I and my family face how God has blessed
us and that more important than the doctors and medicines are the Daily Dose of
God’s Glorious Love which I experience. And
the wonderful blessing of my family and the Church Family whom God uses to
share His love and grace.
Thanks to all who have blessed us
so much! For the people of First United
Methodist Church, Asbury United Methodist Church, my family and most of all
Bonnie and Rebecca for all their love and support.
Looking
back
It is hard to define when this all
really began. About five or six years
ago at least we were serving McKendree United Methodist Church in Jasper,
Tennessee and I started having what I thought were night cramps and they would
be very painful. Often they would be in
both legs and would take about an hour for them to pass. When I mentioned them
to doctors they suggested I take a multivitamin which I did but it seemed to
have little impact.
This was lost in the background
noise when I blacked out when coming home from taking a member to lunch. I awoke to find myself in a ditch and unaware
of how I got there. Thankfully I was
able to just pull out of the ditch and got home. My wife Bonnie drove me around and tried to
help me as I faced a series of what I called brownouts where I was confused and
unable to function at times for seconds or minutes.
After some time the doctors adjusted
my C-PAP machine and put me on Nuvigil which helped me stay alert. With this I was able to continue in the
ministry and all looked good.
In June of 2015 I was appointed to
serve at First United Methodist Church Jefferson City, Tennessee and there my
journey would continue.
