August 3, 2017 Thursday

My son Jonathan contacted most of the congregations I have served and I got a pile of birthday cards.  It was so good to read the cards and the remarks and to have so many memories come alive in me.  People often do not realize how much a letter means to someone who is ill.

At one of my congregations a shut-in was feeling lonely so I asked the congregation to send him cards.  When I went by he went on and on about how much they meant to him.  I asked him if he had enjoyed the thoughts of so many people.  He smiled and told me that he was going to open them one each day to make the joy last as long as he could!

Jonathan came over and we had a birthday dinner together.  It was a wonderful time to celebrate life.  Bonnie fixed Chicken Devine for me.  Yummy! August is a busy month as Bonnie and Jonathan’s birthdays are coming!

The pain continues and it seems lately that my mind is struggling to get the correct words out.  Bonnie and Rebecca continue to be a blessing!
