Session 12

The Apostles Creed Study

1.      the resurrection of the body,

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. 43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.” (1Corinthians 15:42-44 NKJV)

We sometimes get a picture of Heaven with a lot of spirits with big wings flying around.  Or sometimes we get caught up in thinking about the streets of gold. Thinking of Heaven reminds me of the story of the man who wanted to go to Heaven but not right now.

But this part of the Creed emphasizes that we will receive a new spiritual body that will be incorruptible and eternal.  After the resurrection we see glimpses of the physical body Jesus had and this gives us a glimpse of the risen body we will have.

To me the best part of Heaven will be seeing Jesus, My Love, face to face.

What does it mean by body?  What is the difference between the natural and spiritual body?

What do you think it means in verse 44 that we are sown and then raised?

What does it mean it is sown in dishonor and raised in glory?

Define the word resurrection.

On another sheet draw what you think Heaven will be like.
