But we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews
and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those who are the called, both Jews and
Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For God’s foolishness is
wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength. 1
Corinthians 1:23—25
Michael Card wrote a song entitled “God’s Own Fool” and he tries to help us
understand that the Gospel seems so not only foolish but that this is a
stumbling block to many who want to “understand” the Gospel and how God should save
us.
Does it ever strike you that God
became a human being so that He could take our sin upon Himself? In Philippians we are presented the amazing
picture of God becoming a human and to serve us!
Why did Jesus only heal some
people? Why did Jesus let Lazarus
die? Why did Jesus not want some to
understand the Gospel and so He spoke in parables?
Why did Jesus die to conquer sin and
death itself? Why did Jesus die in such a horrific way? Why did Jesus rise physically and not just
spiritually?
In truth we have no idea how God is
working in the world and in our lives!
If we are honest all that we know about God and the Gospel has been
revealed to us by God, to some directly and then through the Bible.
Our choice is will our desire to
understand become a stumbling block for us or will we accept by faith God’s
revelation? Which will you choose?
Bad days continue and are
growing. My muscles stay clenched and
hurt turns into weariness. But God is
good and is seeing me through all of this.
Bonnie and Rebecca continue to be a blessing to me. Jonathan helps when he can and gave us a
Christmas present which includes Hulu TV with plenty of sports channels. He knows that when the pain is bad watching
some sports helps.
