December 26, 2017 Tuesday

1   In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2   He existed in the beginning with God. 3   God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4   The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5   The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.            John 1:1-5 NLT

John reminds us that the birth of Jesus is not the “beginning” of Jesus.  With the beginning of his Gospel John connects us not only back to Genesis but to the promise God makes after the fall to crush the power of sin through the wounding of the of Jesus the “seed of the woman”.

The words John uses to help us understand the Word Jesus Christ are interesting in themselves.

Word – Jesus is not a word but the Word!  In Truth Jesus is the culmination of all words!

Existed – All that is not only comes from God but an expression of who He is.

God – Many seem confused that Jesus is God.  Not one of three Gods or a little God but the God!

Beginning – Jesus is the beginning of Creation and so He is before the beginning and from Whom everything came.

Created – Creation itself is an expression of the Word and as was created “through” Jesus Creation is a revelation of Who He is.

Life – Jesus would declare Himself to be the Life taking us back to Genesis where we see God breathing life into humanity through His breath. The first CPR known!

Light – Light is something that even science has a hard time explaining.  It is interesting that God created light before He created the sun, moon and stars.

After Christmas we often and spent – in two ways – and at times left feeling a little empty.  Look at the “presents” God has given to you for Christmas and realize that Jesus is truly the Gift that keeps on giving!

Bad days continue and the pain increases which makes the weariness increase also.  Been spending too much time in bed and that makes me weak.  Thankful so much for all of my family as they are a real blessing to me.  God has really blessed me.
