15   John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’” 16   From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. 17   For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. 18   No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.             John 1:15-18 NLT

‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’  Do you ever wonder if you are on the right page with the Bible or even wonder if you have the wrong book?

Our problem is that like the Pharisees and the Sadducees we think we already know the answers when we haven’t taken the time to hear the questions!

You may look at the verse above and shake your head.  Some may read it and because they do not get it right away just read over it.  But to do so is to miss the opportunity for God to reveal Himself to you.

The Bible often makes us uncomfortable or shatters our preconceived beliefs as it reveals the truth and reality of creation and of the Creator.  One of the hardest hurdles for us to know God is our own pride and belief in our own understanding.

How would explain God?  How would you explain time?  How would you explain creation?  For the closer one gets and the more you know the more you realize how little you do know!

When I would lead studies I would tell others that where we seek answers to our questions often God wants to give us better questions.  As you read the Gospels see how many times Jesus answers their questions with another question.  You may think that like we often do Jesus is deflecting the questions He cannot answer.  But maybe Jesus is offering a better question?

Do you really want a God that you can understand?  Do you really want a Creation that you can explain?  The great wonder of God and His Creation is that we will grow in amazement all of our lives until all is made clear when we through Jesus come before the face of God and discover all Truth!
