“Why do
you say, O Jacob, And speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the LORD, And my
just claim is passed over by my God”? Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither
faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the
weak, And to those who have no
might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the
young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up
with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and
not faint.” (Isaiah 40:27-31 NKJV)
God’s power is abundant, never ending and never gets
weak. Do you know this? Do you believe this? Through Isaiah God implies that people do not
know and haven’t even heard about God’s power and faithfulness.
Look at the congregation you are part of and at your own
life and see if you know about God and if you are passing this on to those
around you. List the ways you and your
congregation learn and teach about God.
Are you sharing the Good News about God’s gracious mercy and love shown
and experienced in Jesus offering Himself as a payment for our sin and to not
only allow us to know God but to have a relationship with God?
Without knowing God in this way we cannot receive the
blessings listed in this passage. Many
like to quote the last part but forget about the first part. Without the fulfillment of the first part the
second part is not possible for us.
How can we receive the blessings from a God we don’t even
know? How can we expect God to bless us
if we are not willing to get to know Him, admit our need for Him and call out
for God’s help?
Do you expect God to be like Santa Claus and offer you
good things that you want? But even
Santa Claus expects you to know about him, trust in him, and request what you
want and to be good.
Do you waste your prayers on things that are earthly and
do not last? Do you request what you see
in the second part of the verses above?
And are you willing to “wait” on God for the best time and
in the best way?
Bad days continue and the
pain finds new places. I spent more time
in the Bible than I have been able to recently.
But it was a good day as we continue to work on the auto and renters
insurance. Bonnie and Rebecca went to
lunch with Mom Perkins and then went by Harrington Insurance. God is guiding us to get more in better
shape.
