“And in
this mountain The LORD of hosts will make for all people A feast of choice
pieces, A feast of wines on the lees, Of fat things full of marrow, Of
well-refined wines on the lees. And He will destroy on this mountain The
surface of the covering cast over all people, And the veil that is spread over
all nations. He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord GOD will wipe away
tears from all faces; The rebuke of His people He will take away from all the
earth; For the LORD has spoken. And it will be said in that day: “Behold, this is our God; We have waited for Him,
and He will save us. This is
the LORD; We have waited for Him; We will be glad and rejoice in His
salvation.”” (Isaiah 25:6-9 NKJV)
Isaiah presents us with this amazing
picture of God’s plan and desire for the people He created. This promise is available to all people who
acknowledge God as their God and who wait upon God.
God has prepared for us a high place
and a feast that is amazing in its description.
For those who have known hunger and even starvation this is a picture
much like some see in a large grocery store.
This is a picture where despite any ability or ability to pay abundant
need is met with abundant provision.
God provides a place, food and drink
meeting the full range of needs of the people God created and created them to
have. Some may wonder about clothing but
clothing is a result of our sin and here we see a place for the redeemed.
God will destroy our sin that casts
a shadow over us and lies like a layer cutting us off from God and from each
other. The corporate sin which veils
nations from goodness and hope will also be destroyed. The brutality, slavery, murder, theft and
injustice of people and of nations will be revealed and destroyed.
Even our archenemy, death will be
swallowed up. What an image! Some see death as being swallowed into the
earth or going to the depths of hell.
The great swallower will be swallowed by God and death will lose its
hold over us.
On and on goes the list of all God
will do for us and take away from us.
All we lost by our own sinfulness and selfishness will be returned to us
by God!
For the help we so desperately need
and cry for will finally come! Our
watching and waiting has become sight and God has saved us! Recognize this God who has saved you and
celebrate and rejoice “in His
salvation”!
I rested in the morning
so I could go to Rebecca’s birthday celebration with the family. It was a good time and it was so nice to out
with them. At times I get a little
lonely sitting here but usually the Lord sends someone my way and it
helps.
