December 9,2018 Second Sunday of Advent Isaiah 53:4-6

4Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:4-6 NKJV

Verses 4-6 reveal what Jesus came to do for us. Take time to reflect on what each one means and write a description down.

A. Borne our grief’s.

B. Carried our sorrows.

C. Wounded for our transgressions.

D. Bruised for our iniquities.

E. His chastisement made us whole.

F. With His stripes we are healed.

G. All our iniquity was laid on Him.

This scripture then shows our “appreciation” as we esteemed Him stricken of God and so smitten and afflicted. All this was done even though we like sheep had left the flock to go our own way. Christian or not we all sin and do not appreciate the sacrifice of Jesus and what it cost.
Define transgression -

Define Iniquity -

Chastise -

Meditate on verses 4-6 and write down what it means to you and how what Jesus did affects you.
