“3
¶ Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4
And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light
from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He
called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.”
(Genesis 1:3-5 NKJV)
This
verse reveals the great mystery of Creation and the Creator. In this
passage God “said” “Let there be light”; and there was
light. This Light would form each day by darkness and Light
and thus day and night were formed. The darkness came first in the
first day and then Light became day.
The
Jewish day begins as darkness comes and lasts until darkness comes
again. Their day is from dusk to dusk soCreation forms the Jewish
view of day even now.
But
we are left with a question about “So the evening and the
morning were the first day.” How could there be Light
before the sun, moon and stars were formed? What is the source of
this light? What is the source of the darkness?
