“Then
Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He
who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of
life.”” (John 8:12 NKJV)
Though
not a part of the revelation of Creation this verse may help answer
the questions about what Light really is considering Light came
before the sun, moon and stars.
“I
am the light of the world.” Jesus is obviously not
referring to Himself as the sun, moon and stars. This is important
to understand because worshiping these objects often occurs. Is
Jesus referring to Himself as the light of the first day of creation?
“I am” is the name God answers Moses’s
question.
“He
who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of
life.” Darkness also existed before the sun, moon and
stars as seen in creation. What is this darkness? Or, who is this
darkness? The second part of this verse is quoted by Jesus about
Himself with words I Am declaring Jesus is God!
