“20
¶ Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of
living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face
of the firmament of the heavens.” 21 So God created great sea
creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters
abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to
its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them,
saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas,
and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 So the evening and the
morning were the fifth day.” (Genesis 1:20-23 NKJV)
On
the fifth day the wondrous and lustrous world is enhanced as the
waters and sky are filled with “creatures” of all kinds! The
silent earth is suddenly flooded with the sound of many creatures and
their songs join together like a great symphony! The praise for the
Creator has begun!
Each
of the creatures was made after their “kind” which means to be
portioned out and is often used for species. God used kind for the
animals which could reproduce or be fruitful and multiply.
God
blessed the creatures. The word blessed here is used in an intensive
and imperfect sense. In Greek this means a firm or intensive action
which continuing and not yet complete.
