“«A
Contemplation of Ethan the Ezrahite.» I will sing of the mercies of
the LORD forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness
to all generations.” (Psalm 89:1 NKJV)
The
Hebrew word for contemplation means a wise and proper teaching
usually in the form of a poem, song or Psalm which brings growth and
prosperity. Ethan has contemplated God and shares with us the
“fruit” of his contemplation.
Ethan
begins with God’s mercy and faithfulness and promises sing forever,
and to all generations of the goodness of God. Notice Ethan speaks
not just of God’s mercy but mercies. Makes one wonder what is the
difference?
