“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.” (Genesis 2:21-22 NKJV)

In this verse God performs the first anesthetic and surgery. God takes one of Adam’s ribs and “Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman”. It is so amazing to think of this and the ramifications of it.

Some believe God used the rib so the woman would not walk behind, not walk in front but walk beside man. Despite a continuing belief, men do not have one less rib than women.

After the creation of woman God honors Adam “and He brought her to the man.” God knew Adam would be lonely and as he named the animals could see the pairing of the animals and be lonely and want someone to be with and to be fruitful with.
