“And
the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees
of the garden; “but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst
of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you
touch it, lest you die.’”” (Genesis 3:2-3 NKJV)
Here
we see how most sin begins. In response to the serpents temptation
Eve adds to God’s commandment by saying “nor shall you
touch it”. Whether to strengthen her fight with temptation
Eve adds to God’s command and places herself at a disadvantage
against the serpent.
Eve
has chosen her own authority rather than the authority of God.
Already Eve has placed herself above God and has chosen to believe
she knows better. Her pride leads to THE fall and humanity will
never be the same.
The
worst points in history precede from our arrogance believing we know
better than God and even that we are our own God. Sadly this true of
organized religion. Many of the gods humans create are a reflection
of who we are. Our god’s kill, destroy, demand sacrifices (even
human sacrifices) commit ungodly acts (ironic isn’t it) and are
fickle in their nature.
Your
prayer
Give
God thanks for what you have.
Praise
God for who He is.
Ask
for God to use you today.
