“15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men —  16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.” (1Peter 2:15-16 NKJV)

We do not do good to be saved but we do good because we are saved! God’s will is for us to live out our salvation to “silence the ignorance of foolish men” who will declare God’s saving acts are not true.

We you have been set free not just to be free but to willingly serve God as we were created to. There is the danger we will use our position as a Christian to hide our “vice” which is a danger we must constantly fight against.

To be a bondservant of God is to willingly submit to serving God as a servant and living out God’s life for us rather than our own life and desires.
