“35
And when he had said these things, he took bread and gave thanks to
God in the presence of them all; and when he had broken it he began
to eat. 36 Then they were all encouraged, and also took food
themselves.” (Acts 27:35-36 NKJV)
In
this frightening time Paul acted through faith rather than reacting
with fear. Then Paul does something interesting. Paul has what is
very close to Communion and by this they were encouraged.
In
Paul’s time eating together, or sharing table as it was know,
brought a sense of unity and for this time they are part of the
family and the host is required to protect those sharing table. We
can see this as Lot tried to protect the angels and Jesus offering
Himself for us.
