““I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.” (Luke 15:7 NKJV)
First we have the sinner. The word sinner means not only someone who sins but someone who is desperately wicked, being subject specifically horrible ways of living. The word sin is seen as an archer missing the mark.
Second we have repentance. To repent is to change their mind and go in a direct direction and abhor how they lived before.
Third we have the 99 just persons. The word for just used here is to seem just in their own eyes. They pride themselves they are just because they keep God’s commandment.
