““I
say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one
sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no
repentance.” (Luke 15:7 NKJV)
First
we have the sinner. The word sinner means not only someone who sins
but someone who is desperately wicked, being subject specifically
horrible ways of living. The word sin is seen as an archer missing
the mark.
Second
we have repentance. To repent is to change their mind and go in a
direct direction and abhor how they lived before.
Third
we have the 99 just persons. The word for just used here is to seem
just in their own eyes. They pride themselves they are just because
they keep God’s commandment.
