Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” (Psalm 100:4 NKJV)
Why does thanksgiving just get us to the gate while praise gets us into the very court of God? What is the difference? We can find the answer in the last line.
We should be thankful to God. We are thankful for God’s abundance and blessing. We are thankful for God’s protection and love. We are thankful for salvation. We are thankful for what God has done and will do for us. We are also called to be thankful for troubles by which God can strengthen us.
Praising God is to “bless His name.” Praise is not about what God does but who God is. God is worthy of our praise and worship no matter what we think God does. It is important to take time to allow God to reveal Himself in the Bible and give us an awe of who God is. Looking at Creation through the lens of the Bible allows us to see the power, artistry, beauty and order of God!
