November 6

Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit.” (Psalm 34:13 NKJV)

In the New Testament James calls us to this same discipline of watching what we say. In my own life I call this “Making sure I get one foot out of my mouth before I put the other in.” As little children we say “Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me.” This lie is our attempt to not show the destructive force of words in our lives and others. Many carry the searing pain of words that burn even to the soul.

Your prayer

Give God thanks for what you have.

Praise God for who He is.

Ask for God to use you today.
