I see flames rolling through
The cries to fight the flames
Ringing within my ears
Then other screams appear
Fear like a pall overwhelms
Will anyone get out of here
Water bubbles at my feet
Shoes melt to metal deck
Thick metal walls turn white
Will it melt or spread fire
OBA must be changed
To create air I can breathe
Up and down little break
Weary deeper than soul
If fire wins we will lose
Fire, shark or patrol boat
Flames get smaller and
Heat no longer burns
Clothing smokes and dries
Walls turn red than dark
Up the ladder last time
Burned and bleeding lie
Lining hallway writhing
Pain undimmed still
Suddenly I am in tears
Weary and fully worn
I left behind in the fire
My blood, sweat and tears
(OBA stands for Oxygen Breathing Apparatus which produces oxygen from chemicals.)
